Anyone who has built or converted a house or commercial property owners know that the plumbing codes are subject to municipal and local plumbing practice that the mandate is still some work.
These codes are actually from a broader effort to harmonize the practices of HVAC, had its genesis in Los Angeles in 1926 and the development of what today is known as the Uniform Plumbing Code, (UPC). Local plumber codes do not vary in different courts of the United States, plumbers and installers, who are members of various professional associations, meet the most stringent requirements often UPC governing the installation and inspection of plumbing. Homeowners and owners of commercial real estate would do well to take some of their HVAC contractors, members of these groups ensures very high quality are met in their systems.
The partnerships are committed to the UPC standards include the American Society of Sanitary Engineers, Contractors Association of America, Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association National Association of United World Plumbing Council.
The International Association of Plumbing and responsible for the mechanical (IAPMO) has developed and regularly updates the UPC code model. The whole process began in the 1920s, when a group of Los Angeles plumbing inspectors have sought to unify the practice of plumbing, it was learned that the disease spread through poor sanitation, and standards for plumbing and water distribution system in the region varies considerably. The first set of rules was approved by the City of Los Angeles in 1928. In 1945, the IAPMO (then known as the Western Plumbing Officials Association) published the UPC and has spread from plumbing standard adopted throughout the country.
The latest version of the UPC was released in 2009 and was developed using the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) consensus on the development of procedures, the process is used to set high standards for a wide range of products, services, processes , systems and people throughout the country. ANSI standards governing everything from electrical work and plumbing, for architectural purposes, mechanical systems, safety glasses and clothing, mining, water storage systems, bridges and also the standardization of paper sizes used for "regular" and "Letter".
UPC reporting standards and plumbing systems for many procedures for health services and medical gases, sewage, water heaters, sanitary drainage, water supply and distribution and accessories.
Members authorized professional plumbers must comply with the standards of the UPC, and these standards meet and exceed the code in any jurisdiction. Plumbing codes are not implemented in every U.S. jurisdiction, jurisdictions and even coded can be watched from general contractors and remodeling homes and men, which may not be up and running ANSI mandates. Experts advise that the plumbing wrong can lead to a collapse of the system, and even threaten the safety and health of people living and working in construction.
